February 2010, remodel chaos, new resume

I am getting older, I have deadlines, I have lost track of time,  it'll be here before you know it -- all those things my elders told me would happen has happened.  Can you believe that it is already February?  I thought I stated in a previous post that things go back to normal and time slows down after the holidays.

We are plugging along at remodeling the "fish room/tv room".  People come and go, inside and outside, under the house, up in the attic, running wires, making plumbing, all the things we need to finish the "project".  Every time I think things are on schedule, things are delayed.  The plumber needs one more day, the electrician needs to pull a new wire, the painter needs to do a touch-up, T decides he doesn't want carpet, we have to pick a tile that goes with the the new paint and the new couch.  The big screen TV might be is too big, the fish tank is going to be in the way of the TV, let's move the fish tank here and the TV over on that wall, the couch will must sit perfectly centered in front of the tv, etc, etc, etc . . .

The new cabinets are in the garage, my car is not.  (My car doesn't like the cold and snow any more than I do.)  The fish tank stand is in the garage, now tile is going to be delivered and put in the garage so that it can warm up before it is laid in the room.  It has to warm up?  Yes, it has to warm up.  It has been outside in the frozen snow at the stone place down the street.  Thank goodness the stone/tile was in stock so as not to have another delay.

The fish tank itself is in an enclosed trailer parked in front of the garage.  This is the tank we special ordered in June of last year and picked up in California on our vacation last summer.

Meanwhile I work two part-time jobs (paralegal and administrative assistant to T at the accounting firm), A goes to gymnastics three times a week (chauffeur), I like to quilt in my spare time (quilter), (maid) laundry is getting out of hand because towels line the floor where the construction guys walk through the house . . . I think I can now add general contractor to my resume.

OH MY GOSH!!

I never thought a simple remodel could be so much work.  Plans change, ideas get bigger and bigger.  The schedule for the completion might be March.
