Lots of things to share

I haven't been here in so long (since May) - let's see if I can remember how this thing works.

I've (We've) been doing lots of things.  Some pictures are on my camera and some are on my phone.

In July, German gymnasts came to Wyoming to workout with our gymnasts.

They had a cookout party with gymnasts in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

FINALLY

I started this quilt in October 2012 thinking this will be so fast and easy - a jellyroll race quilt.  My ideas was to give this to my mother for her birthday.  I didn't get the quilt finished for the New Year's Eve birthday.  Then I didn't get it completely finished for Mother's Day.  The label was stitched today, but I didn't stitch the label to the quilt yet. But FINALLY, I can post about the quilt and show pictures.  I have two quilts to show, two recent finishes.

It was been rainy lately and I haven't had a good place to take photos.

Today was a beautiful day and we went for a drive in the mountains to Camp Comfort.  The property is beautiful, peaceful, quiet.

Happy Memorial Day.

Progress

I finished another top after a few (three) changed plans.

It started like this.

It finished like this.

I found this tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt Co.  http://www.missouriquiltco.com/

One of ladies demonstrates a pattern tutorial by 3 Dudes Quilting.  http://vimeo.com/29271280

Not all the strips aligned as I expected.  Oh well.

It will be a baby girl quilt some day.

Here are pictures from last week's finished projects.

On to this week's projects.

There is a reason the pattern says, "Read instructions before beginning a project."

I had a vision of a zigzag quilt from a jelly roll, with no triangles.  I searched the internet and found http://www.unitednotions.com/fp_bella-solids-zz.pdf.  I had pairs of strips sewn together thinking this will be so easy.

Well I don't have a zigzag quilt.  Thank goodness I have a stash of quilt books.  I found another pattern in Simplify with Camille Roskelley to use the strips.  I have a new vision - improv.

We had gymnastics in Spearfish this weekend.  I don't know how to take pictures off the ipad and download to the blog.  Pictures to come.

A finished project or two

I have a FO - finished object.

I finished a baby quilt top with pinwheels.  It was a charm pack I purchased I don't know how many years ago.  I joined the blocks, then added prairie points and a border.

Then I finished an X-bag purse - a pattern I bought approximately 5 years ago.

I don't have pictures to post yet, but I promise I finished two projects at the quilt retreat in Cody this past weekend.  Friends and Co Quilt Shop (http://friendsandco.net/shop/) hosted a quilt retreat.  I was lucky enough to attend with a quilting friend.  We made new friends and we were invited back - score, Score, SCORE.  Please visit the website and click on the "Benjamin Smiles" tab.

Come to think of it, I also finished two travel pillowcases.  Visit the website to make one for yourself.  Vicki is an awesome lady.

This evening T and I went to dinner at UP IN SMOKE (http://upinsmokebuffalowy.com/Home.html)

with friends and co-workers.  Monday nights Chef Sam prepares a special menu.  Tonight was an Italian menu:  fettuccine, lasagna, tiramisu.  OMGG (oh my goodness gracious) that was the best meal I have eaten this year.

I promise I will post pictures soon to prove I have FOs.
