Resolutions

I have been absent from this blog for three months. Time was spent quilting, building my stash, rearranging my stash and realizing that I have too much stash. (Okay, I said it.) While in the bedroom floor pulling out boxes from under the bed and perusing the fabric cabinet, I saw projects that were purchased with good intentions and creative ideas. As I was looking and touching the soft cotton goodness, I said maybe I should finish the projects, make the quilts and not buy any more fabric next year. AND I spoke those words out loud in the PRESENCE OF MY HUSBAND.

I have two retreats to attend in the next two months, one at the end of this week, January 4, 5 and 6 and one that I am co-hosting with a friend in mid-February.  I need to decide what project(s) I should take to work on. That was a hard one.

While in the bedroom floor, I made a list (you know those end-of-the-year inventory kind of lists). The list includes approximately 15 projects, five or so of which are UFOs (unfinished objects): Quilts, baby blankets, table cloths, scarves, etc. I know that I will not be able to finish the entire list this year, but I need to put a dent in the stash under the bed and in the fabric cabinet.

Also I want to document those projects on this blog. So to catch up on the past few months I will post a few pictures of the happenings.

I finished Mc's, nephew number 3, table topper in red.

We celebrated A's 12th birthday

and, of course, we had Christmas.

So this brings to an end the posts of 2012.  I hope to finish a few projects in the coming year.  We will see if I can hold true to my resolution.

 Happy New Year!

August 27th - The first day of school - middle school that is.

What sixth grader poses like this for her first day of school?

Happy Labor Day!!

I guess I would call it the last official day of summer.  However, this summer has been the hottest (driest) summer I have had in Wyoming.  More fires and more smoke than ever before.

I have not posted any remodel pictures.
This is the new back-splash in the kitchen.

The new floor in the kitchen, it goes into the living room and down the hallway.

This is the new tile around the bar area.  This is in the laundry room also.

County Fair . . .

nothing like seeing a kid drug across the barn by a steer.  Brings back memories.

A and I walked through the livestock barn this evening.  I explained to her . . .

"When I was your age I showed steers like these."  She politely looked at me and said, "Why?"  I just shook my head.

Now I enter quilts in the county fair ~ less dangerous.

Grand Champion Wall Quilt

(no children, quilts or steers were injured)

Whoa, where did the last TWO months go?  Ok, let's catch up (again).  In the last two months we had more gymnastics and more remodeling.

Gymnastics:  we went to Missouri for a gymnastics camp.

Remodeling:  this time it's the kitchen, living room, dining room and laundry.

So this will be a picture-heavy post - as will the next few posts.

Not much sewing since my dining room table/sewing room was moved to the garage so we could have a new tile floor put in.  The whole house echos (echo . . . echo . . .)

Well folks, we interupt this blog post because we can't find the card reader to download those pictures for this picture-heavy post.  (The card reader is packed in a box to be unpacked at a later date - as in when I find it).  Until next time . . .

Catch Up

I need to do some catching up on things that have happened over the last month.

January craft night at my house:  We played Left, Right Center with fat quarters.  I won.  Thank you ladies for your company, the fun and the fabric.  I hope to make a nice quilt soon - possibly a string quilt.

Colorado Springs Meet:  We had a great time in Colorado.  As always the weather was not the best, but the girls did a great job.  We were at the beautiful Broadmoor.

Ucross Quilt Retreat:  I had an awesome time in Ucross.  We all sewed late in the night and then rose early in the morning to start again.  Each night we had show and share after dinner.  Here are a few of the lovely quilts that were shared.

Same quilt pattern, different color selection.

Many other beautiful quilts were shown.

We played stip poker with 2 1/2" strips of course.

There was fun, food, fellowship and fabric, of course.

P.S. I finished the bargello quilt. (finally)

Sewing around the house:  This is the continued project I worked on at Ucross.

My living room floor makes a great design wall.  The morning sun coming in the window makes it interesting.

I worked on basting this before I left for Ucross.  It's not finished either.  And if it doesn't make you dizzy or sea sick, I don't know what will.

This is the back.

The end.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Christmas came and went so fast my head is still spinning.

But I have been working on the quilt again.
